Junior Special Advanced Course

The Junior Special Advanced Course builds on the skills and musicality developed in the Junior Music Course, and applies them to keyboard performance and creativity. It is an accelerated course for students who demonstrate advanced capabilities.

Ages of students: 6-7 year olds

Qualifications: Graduate of the Yamaha Junior Music Course and successful audition

Course length: 4 years Class schedule: One hour per week for the first 2 years, then 1-1/2 hours per week for the remainder

Private Lessons: One half hour per week for the first 2 years, then 45 minutes per week for the remainder. Develop performance skills on the piano in the private lessons. Develop improvisation and composition skills.

Emphasize hearing, reading, writing, singing and ensemble skills as part of a broader musical foundation.

Upon Completion of the Course

Once your child has completed the Junior Special Advanced Course, children may continue in private lesson instruction and/or composition classes. As the children develop more advanced musical skills, they are also encouraged to express themselves by performing and composing their own music through programs like Junior Original Concert.
